These terms of service apply to the use of the MyPalkkalaskuri.com web service. By using the service, you accept these terms. If you don't accept the terms, don't use the service. MyPalkkalaskuri.com is a free salary calculator service intended to be used with knowledge of Finnish tax legislation and pension insurance contribution rates. By using the service, you accept these terms of service in their entirety. Use of the service is free of charge for private and professional use. The service doesn't require registration or a user account.

The service is designed for use in reviewing Finnish wage income. It's not suitable for other countries' tax systems and is not intended for replacing official taxation or payroll calculation.

2. Purpose of the Service

The salary calculator is designed to provide an estimate of net salary based on gross salary (and vice versa), as well as of employer's side costs, YEL contributions, the monthly equivalent of an hourly wage, and a teacher's OVTES salary. Results are indicative and are not official payroll calculations, tax calculations, or insurance contribution calculations. For an official calculation, always use the Tax Administration's OmaVero service and pension companies' own services.

The calculator helps you understand how the payroll system works, but it's not a substitute for professional financial, tax, or legal advice. If you need individual advice, contact the Tax Administration, your trade union, an accounting firm, a tax specialist, or a lawyer.

3. Disclaimer

Important: Calculator results are approximate estimates based on general 2026 tax and insurance contribution rates. We are not responsible for the following:

• Possible errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the calculator.
• Decisions made by users based on calculator results.
• Financial losses or damages resulting from use of the calculator.
• Tax-related errors or subsequent tax consequences.
• Differences from actual salary caused by individual circumstances (e.g. mortgage interest, commuting, union fees, fringe benefits).
• Damages caused by service interruption or technical failures.
• Changes in municipal tax rates or statutory contributions that haven't yet been updated in the calculator.

Always verify final salary with your employer, the Tax Administration, or your payroll clerk. If you notice a significant difference between the calculator result and your payslip, the difference is usually due to personal tax variables (tax card income limits, deductions, fringe benefits) that the calculator can't assess.

4. Calculator Data and Updates

We strive to keep tax and insurance contribution data up to date, but don't guarantee its complete accuracy. Taxation can change annually (Tax Administration's new tax scales, municipal decisions, radical changes like the social welfare reform), and new legal changes aren't always immediately brought to the calculator. In Finland, tax and insurance contributions are typically reviewed as follows:

• State income tax scales: at year change 1 January.
• Municipal tax rates: by each municipality's decision in autumn, entering into force the following calendar year.
• TyEL percentages: in labour market negotiations, entering into force usually 1 January.
• Unemployment insurance contribution: by decision of the Employment Fund, entering into force 1 January.
• Health insurance: by Kela / legislative changes.
• YEL work income lower and upper limits: index-tied annually.

Users should check the accuracy of the payslip themselves and use the calculator's results as a rough estimate.

Finnish law applies to these terms of service. Possible disagreements and disputes are primarily resolved through negotiation. If agreement isn't reached, the dispute is resolved in the Helsinki District Court or, for a consumer customer, in the district court of your home municipality. Consumers can also submit the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board for resolution at www.kuluttajariita.fi.

13. Entirety of Terms

These terms of service form a whole together with the privacy policy. If any term is found invalid or unenforceable, it doesn't affect the validity of other terms. Terms are always interpreted so that they fulfil their original purpose in accordance with Finnish legislation.

14. Consumer Protection

Although our service is free, you are subject to the rights of the Finnish Consumer Protection Act in all customer relationships with us. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes the mandatory rights of consumers.
