Response Time

We aim to respond to all inquiries within 1–3 business days. In summer and at year-end, response times may be slightly longer, but every message is read and processed. We don't use automated replies – responses always come from a person who can actually help you.

For urgent situations requiring immediate resolution (e.g. suspected security breach), reach us by email and mention "URGENT" in the subject.

• Employment matters. For salary or employment disputes, you can get help from your sector's trade union, occupational safety authorities, or lawyers.
• Social security matters. Kela handles sickness allowances, parental allowances, and basic income.
• Pension matters. For questions about occupational pensions, your pension company (Varma, Ilmarinen, Elo, Veritas) or Tela can help.
• Business law. For legal questions related to business activity, turn to a lawyer or business advisory service (e.g. Business Finland, municipal business advisors).

Privacy in Contacts

When you contact us by email, we process your personal data (name, email address, message content) only for responding and any subsequent communication. We don't share data with third parties without your consent, and we don't use it for marketing. A more detailed description of personal data processing is in our privacy policy.

Do not send sensitive personal data (e.g. personal identity code, bank account number) by email. If you need help with a matter that requires sharing such data, let us know and we'll arrange a secure connection.

How We Help After Your Message

When you contact us, we read everything. Usually the process goes like this:

1. Reading the message – the message is usually read the same day.
2. Categorising the topic – is this a technical issue, content question, feedback, or feature request?
3. Necessary investigation – if it's a technical error, we test the reported situation. If it's a content question, we check sources.
4. Response – we provide a clear answer or plan of action within 1–3 business days.
5. Actions – technical errors are usually fixed within the same week. New features are evaluated at the next update cycle.

User Experience – How You Can Help Others

If you notice that a particular calculator feature isn't clear or the usability is lacking, tell us. Your feedback benefits hundreds of thousands of other users, as changes apply to everyone. Particularly valuable are:

All technical bug reports go directly into the development queue and are usually fixed within a few days.

Tracking Tax and Legal Changes

If you notice that a tax or insurance contribution rate has changed and MyPalkkalaskuri hasn't yet updated it, tell us! We actively follow bulletins from the Tax Administration, Kela, the Employment Fund, and pension companies, but we may not always be the first to notice the very latest changes. Municipal tax rates in particular change annually – one municipality's updated rate helps other residents of the same municipality get more accurate results.

Payroll system changes usually take effect at the year change on 1 January, but sometimes also mid-year (e.g. the social welfare reform shifted municipal tax rates radically mid-year 2023).

Translation Feedback

MyPalkkalaskuri is available in five languages: Finnish, English, German, Spanish, and Chinese. Finnish is our main language, and other language translations are based on it first. If you notice translation errors or unnatural language in other language options, let us know. Native-speaker observations are particularly valuable. Finnish payroll system professional terms (TyEL, YEL, TES, OVTES) are retained in translations too, because they have no exact equivalent in other languages – abbreviations are explained in context.
