2.1 Calculator Data (Salary Data)

We do not store your salary data on our servers. When you enter gross salary, hourly wage, YEL work income, municipality, or other data needed for calculation, they are processed only on your own device in the browser. They disappear as soon as you leave the page or close the tab.

This is a conscious choice: we want you to be able to use the service completely anonymously without worrying about personal financial matters leaking.

2.2 Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics 4 to track service visitor volumes and usage patterns. Analytics collects the following data:

  • Pages visited and their order
  • Duration of use on pages
  • Device type (mobile, tablet, desktop) and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • General location (at city or municipality level, not exact address)
  • Referring page (which website you arrived from)

11. Why Did We Choose This Approach?

When we built MyPalkkalaskuri.com, our first technical and principled decision was that salary data never leaves the browser. This is unusual for web services – normally all entered data is sent to a server for calculation. Our solution is different: all calculation is done with JavaScript code directly on the user's device. We never see and cannot see the entered salary data.

Practical benefits for the user:

  • The risk of salary data leakage is practically nil from our side, because we don't store it.
  • You can use the service without worrying about personal financial matters leaking.
  • Even if someone broke into our servers, no salary data would be found there.
  • You don't need to give a personal identity code, bank account, or other private identifier.

This is a practical application of the minimisation principle: we collect only what the service's operation absolutely requires.

Our site contains links to external sites (e.g. Tax Administration's vero.fi, Kela's pages, OAJ, pension companies). When you click an external link, you leave MyPalkkalaskuri.com and move to a page managed by the service provider. The service provider is responsible for the privacy practices of these sites.
